Tucked safely between the silver she-cat’s delicate paws Reedheart’s olive eyes escaped the glaring light of the sun. The warrior’s cocky smile softened and his ears flicked gently in an attempt to tickle the other’s feet as she rose. For a heartbeat concern raced along the tom’s spine, but the relaxed posture of his companion led him to believe that whoever had caught her attention was a clanmate. Not willing to take chances, though, the warrior lifted his little pink nose into the wind.
Upon discovering Goldenfeather’s sweet scent Reedheart let a soft sigh of relief escape his still parted jaws. Determined to bring a chuckle to Robinwing, and very much enjoying being so close to Aspenfur, the tom loathed the thought of being parted from his current activities. After waving a tail welcoming to the new arrival, he let his gaze fall upon the tortoiseshell once more. “Flattery? Come on, I just want to tell the honest truth about how gorgeous you are. It is a crime indeed if a compliment can’t be received with welcome.” The younger warrior’s words were followed by a gentle swipe towards Robinwing, and the action was purposefully kept far enough away that it would most certainly miss.
“And it’ll be a sad sight indeed when I’m old and scraggily. You bring up a good point; perhaps I should start training you to take my place so when the time comes life can go on. Otherwise I’m certain-.” Reedheart’s meow was cut short as Goldenfeather approached and begin to talk about duties. The ginger cat rolled upon his side, but a disconcerted grunt was held back. She had a point, of course. Warriors should be taking care of the needs of their clan instead of goofing off, but the prey had been so plentiful and the borders so peaceful it was hard to find a need to do anything.
“Aww relax Goldenfeather and join us in sun bathing. The other clans are probably just as lazily dozing as we are, or hiding away from the sun’s heat. It’s only healthy to take a break from our duties every once in a while.” His tone was friendly and reflected the warmth of the pebbles he was arranged upon.

Robinwing blinked at Goldenfeather, acknowledging her presence. She never really talked to the she-cat, but had nothing against her either, so her light green pools were warm as they gazed at the golden warrior. As spray hit her pelt, Robinwing relished the cool droplets that seeped into her fur. The sun was becoming scorching hot in this heatwave. Part of the tortoiseshell longed to jump into the water for a long, cool swim.
Dipping her tail into the water, Robinwing turned her head back to Goldenfeather. "A patrol? I suppose we could... But we weren't ordered to do so..." The she-cat wrinkled her nose, torn between responsibility and procrastination. She glanced towards Aspenfur while blatantly ignoring the tom laying at her paws, annoyed that she was in agreement with him. "What do you think?" Part of her wanted to be approving of a patrol just because Reedfeather opposed it.
But ultimately, she hoped the gray warrior would agree. It was nice to be sitting here with clan mates, relaxed with no immediate worries. Standing up, Robinwing shook a few pebbles off her pelt, careful not to hit her clan mates. Crouching, the warrior stretched, her taut muscles loosening. Goldfeather's mew about hunting reminded her of prey. She hadn't eaten, but Robinwing held her tongue. Her stomach wasn't sending her any hunger pangs anyways.

Goldenfeather shrugged, her pelt floating slightly in the heat. "It would be a good idea to do it before the heat wave got any worse..." She turned to the river. "Maybe we all could take a short swim afterwards...It would be nice, seeing as it's going to get a lot hotter..."
She turned to the group of cats. Goldenfeather hadn't gotten to know them that well, but they seemed to be a nice, agreeable bunch. Robinwing seemed to be a bit like her in a sence, as well. Thirsty, Goldenfeather turned to the river and took a few sips. She spotted a few frogs on the opposite shore, but didn't bother to tell anyone. They were small, and fish would be better. They were bigger and easier to catch, in her opinion.
Goldenfeather arched her back, stretching. She shook her paws and yawned. "It's getting dull out here. We should at least do something..." She twitched her ears as river spray got onto her face. "We could just swim now, if that's what you all want to do, instead of patrols..." The river was nice, and most cats would agree to that nicer, cooler alternative. Apparently, everyone hated patrols as much as she did. She kicked a pebble aside that was bothering her paw.

Aspenfur felt the need to agree with the senior warriors, although she really didn't want to. Even though, Goldenfeather and Robinwing were pushing for a patrol, she agreed with Reedheart. The rest of the clans weren't really doing much, and she'd already had few pieces of fresh-kill buried from her anger-fueled stalk out to the twoleg bridge. But she didn't want it to seem like she wasn't loyal to the clan, so she just stood up, stretching her body gracefully and yawned.
Reedheart was still stretched out in the sun, and she quietly admired his fur. She was just about to agree with Robinwing, that yes, a patrol would be good, when Goldenfeather meowed, ""We could just swim now, if that's what you all want to do, instead of patrols..."
Aspenfur's whiskers twitched with suppressed excitement as an idea, maybe not her best, but certainly a fun one buzzed through her brain. Casually, she wandered towards the river bank, as if getting a drink of water. She could feel at least one pair of eyes on her, and she wondered if the cat could guess what she was about to do. Maybe it was a bit immature, but who cares; she's still young.
With an almight leap, and an echoing caterwaul, Aspenfur leaped into the water, kicking with her back legs, making sure to send great splashes of water to soak her companions on pebbled bank.

Robinwing raised a white paw to shield her face as a loud meow of surprise escaped her jaws. The water Aspenfur had splashed thoroughly soaked through her fur, making the tortoiseshell feel a shiver run up her spine. Feeling a surge of playfulness of her own, Robinwing shook her fur, causing water droplets to fly in every direction.
Turning towards Aspenfur, now a drenched silver body gliding around in the river, she fluffed up her fur into sodden spikes and growled, "Why you little...!" Despite her menacing demeanor, it was almost impossible not to detect the mischievous tone in her voice.
With a big gasp of air, Robinwing dove into the water, her unsheathed paws aimed at her gray clan mate, battering playfully. "I'll show you!" she meowed before going under. In the water, her light green pools were tinged with the blue-ness of the river. Tiny minnows scattered at her presence, while a small turtle floated lazily by. Robinwing's eyes widened at the beautiful world hidden beneath the depths of the river. If not for the incessant need to breathe, Robinwing would've wanted to stay a spectator of the water world forever.
OOC: Sorry for taking so long, I was trying to see if Reedheart would post.

Goldenfeather turned her gaze to the Thunderclan territory, when water rained down on her face and body. She shook her head, trying to free the whiskers from the cold river water. After cleaning her eyes, she turned to the river, a suprized look on her face. It was Aspenfur. Robinwing soon dove into the river, after firing a sarcastic complaint. It was all fun and games, though, Goldenfeather could tell. She turned to Reedheart, but she was unable to read his emotions.
Goldenfeather slowly slunk into the water, and started paddling around, dodging Robinwing, who was underwater. She dunked her head under for a second, and surfaced, shaking water from her fur. She sunk into the river, making only her head and spine above water. She steered through the cold current with her tail. After getting out of the way of Aspenfur, she treaded water. It's kind of nice being out here with clan members... Goldenfeather reflected. She swam up to the opposite shore and shook her pelt. She gazed up at the trees, and gripped a low branch. After slowly pulling herself up, Goldenfeather flung herself into the river, drenching the cats in the water, and Reedwhisker, who was still on shore.

Aspenfur paddled in the water, enjoying the cool feeling against her fur, even as she kept closer to shore. She was not the strongest swimmer, and even though she loved the water, she wasn't always comfortable. She liked how smooth it was to be in the water, with the current rushing around her. Her nose caught the clearing scent of moving water and she watched a few fish glide underneath her feet. She was tempted to snatch one up to appease Goldenfeather, but she didn't.
Instead, behind her, she heard Robinwing threaten, "I'll show you!"
She turned her head, glancing back, and caught Robinwing dipping her head underwater to swim through the water like a fish. She admired the tortoiseshell's confidence. She'd never dare to do anything remotely like sticking her head under the water. Aspenfur mrrwed with delight and humor as she paddled even faster away from Robinwing. She glanced back again and found Goldenfeather sinking into the river, her silky golden pelt floating out around her. Only Reedheart was back on the bank and Aspenfur was having non of that.
"C'mon, you furball." She yowled back to him. "The sun bathing can wait. This is much more fun!"

Twice a tide of tiny twinkling water droplets deigned to patter upon the tom’s light ginger pelt, and to each he gave no satisfaction of a reaction. Remaining upon his side, soft underside facing the river, Reedheart’s right ear twitched once then remained still. There was a part of him which wished to spring to his paws and join his friends in mirth. The desire faded, though, as he cast his green gaze into the bright sky.
“I’m sorry to disappoint you Aspenfur, but it so happens I have other duties then just soaking up the sun. Someone has to roll around in the dirt too, and I swore to our leader that I’d be just the cat.” Lethargically Reedheart stretched once more before tenderly rising upon all fours. For a moment longer he hesitated upon the pebbles, watching the others take pleasure in the water’s grip.
Sorrelfur will be looking for me. The thought sent waves of irritation lapping at his paws, and as if in sight of the she-cat already Reedheart found himself biting his lower lip. Mange-pelt would have told her by now, and she’ll feel the need to play peace keeper. His mother’s new mate was a constant source of conflict to the young tom, and try as he could there was no way to avoid the pair.
To be fair, Reedheart was far from the respectful young son. He took every opportunity to rebel against the older tom, like that night at Moonhigh. Having slipped from the camp before the squirrel eater could return from the patrol, he had yet to discover the result of his prank, but by now the ants would have been all over the rat-faced older warrior. The young tom let a heavy sigh slip from his clenching teeth. Oh yes, this will be fun. With one last look over his tabby shoulder, and a crooked smile growing upon Reedheart’s maw, he departed the river’s ever-changing shore for the direction of camp and unavoidable conflict.

With a tiny ripple Robinwing's head poked out over the surface again, just in time to spot Reedheart pad away. The she-cat twitched her ear, flicking away water droplets. She wasn't sure how she felt about the tom, or of his departure. There seemed to be something bothering him. A small bud of worry planted itself in Robinwing's mind, but she quickly disregarded it before it could bloom. Every cat here has something bothering them. Shrugging it off, she turned back to her other clan mates.
It felt good to be able to paddle strongly through the mild currents. A good work out for the muscles, and yet not too straining. Thin strands of moss tickled her hind paws and Robinwing had to kick out softly to dislodge the entangled strings. Silver streaks flashed by as fish hurried along their paths, desperate to be safely out of harm's way. Robinwing's nose twitched. She would've liked to dive down again to sink her teeth into one of those fleshy, slippery bodies, but now was not the time.
Wading towards the shallower end of the river bank, Robinwing found a nice flat rock to perch on. The rock was partly submersed in water, so the she-cat could bask in the warm sunlight while feeling the cool spray on her fur. Letting out a rusty purr, the tortoiseshell lowered her head onto her white paws, her light green eyes twinkling in contentment.

Goldenfeather watched the cats in the river, but tilted her head as she saw Reedheart pad away. She could smell annoyance and anger on him, but she couldn't guess what. Is it maybe the tom that took his mother for a mate? That would be sort of logical, although I don't mind the warrior much. She shrugged. Oh well. Maybe it's something else. He is that type after all, at least to me. She ducked under the cold, river water, and splashed Aspenfur in the face, getting Robingwing at the same time.
I don't think I've had this much fun since...forever...If only my frog brained sister hadn't run away. Irritation prickd her pelt as she thought about her younger sibling. She ducked underwater again, to avoind any water that Robinwing or Aspenfur would fling at her in return for the previous splash. Goldenfeather opened her eyes and saw tiny minnows swim by, along with a few frogs. She batted at one of them, but let it go. After a few minutes, she raised her head up and took a deep breath of air that healed her lungs. Hopefully no water would splash her. She looked at the sun high in the sky. "Are those clouds to the East? It doesn't seem likely to rain..." Goldenfeather liked clouds. They provided shade for the Riverclan cats.

Aspenfur snorted when Reedheart refused to get in the water. She was disappointed when he left, but wasn't going to let it bother her. The furball probably just didn't know how to swim. All that sun baking. Instead, she turned, using her tail as a rudder, and paddled towards the shore.
Robinwing was lounged luxuriously on a flat stone just out of the water and Aspenfur couldn't decide if she wanted to splash the Riverclan she-cat again or join her. She flicked her ear as a spray of river hit them, but didn't stop paddling. She wasn't in shallow enough water to touch the bottom and she didn't really fancy being taken down stream. The current, though slow here, was more powerful near the falls and would not doubt take her under.
She swam hard, feeling the sudden exhaustion from being in the water too long. It was a problem being as slim as she was because she couldn't swim nearly as well as a Riverclan cat ought to. It limited her and frustrated her and certainly disappointed her mother, although Aspenfur felt that it had something more to do with genetics than actual ability. Eventually, she reached the rock Robinwing had claimed and climbed on, dripping water everywhere from her pale grey fur.
She settled herself down next to Robinwing, facing the same direction and watching Goldenfeather emerge from the river, her own long golden fur giving her a ragged look as it leaked water. She heard the she-cat ask if it was going to rain and she twisted to look at Thunderclan territory. There were a few clouds on the horizon but none that looked threatening.
"I think it'll be okay." Aspenfur called. "There's not enough there for a full scale storm. Just a drizzle if we aren't lucky." Then she half closed her eyes and copied Reedheart, soaking up the sun and purring with delight.

Robinwing shook her fur out a bit, flinging shining droplets of water back into the river. The sun was warm, so she didn't mind the excessive splashing. Gazing down, she spotted tiny groups of minnows swimming along the rock. Batting playfully at them, she gently hooked one into the air. It's silver body flailed in the sunlight, reflecting the rays before plopping back into the water. Robinwing watched in faint amusement as it shot away from the rock, most likely frightened out of its mind.
A small splash sounded beside the tortoise-shell and she turned to see Aspenfur pushing herself onto the rock beside her. Scooting, Robinwing made sure there was enough room for her clan mate and - hopefully - soon to be friend. The she-cat looked tired from the swim, which surprised Robinwing a little. The river current wasn't super strong. But then again, Aspenfur was a slim cat. The strength of the water would have a different effect on her than on Robinwing herself.
Hearing Goldenfeather's words, Robinwing gazed at the sky. Sure enough, clouds were forming in the distance. The clouds did look as if it may carry some rain, but they weren't near enough to have any effects on the cats yet. "Aspenfur's right," she mewed. "Besides, the clouds aren't going to be above us for a while yet, so we should be fine." Cheerful and glad of the sunshine warming her fur at the moment, the she-cat laid her head on her paws again with a small purr.

Goldenfeather blinked her eyes as the she cats spoke. Well, I suppose they're right. It doesn't look like it will rain quite yet. "I hope it rains though. I love rain." Goldenfeather pulled herself out of the river and joined Robinwing and Aspenfur after shaking her pelt, water splashing into the river. She laid down and stretched, her paws grabbing at the weeds dotting the edges of the rock that Aspenfur and Robinwing were on. "Hopefully it will rain. The heat's been getting to me."
That was kind of an understatement. She had been grouchier and more seclusive lately. She couldn't help it that her pelt was thick, but even short furred cats were hot.
"I wonder when the gathering will be," Goldenfeather mewed, changing the subject. "I think it would be nice to go. See how the other clans are doing. Of course, it's all up to ___star. I don't know if Reedheart will be picked though... He seems kind of...annoyed. Yea, that's the word for it." Maybe I should go visit the moonstone and ask Starclan about the gathering... It would be funny to see their expressions...Maybe get wherabouts on my sister... I"m not sure if I would be sad if she died... Goldenfeather rolled over, dismissing the thought from her mind.
OOC: Yea, I'll have to call it ___star for now...

Aspenfur yawned, stretching out as much as she could on the rock, enjoying the sun on her back and the casual conversation. This is why she was a clan cat. She loved these cats, loved her clan. The easy way they fell into together, although they'd never really been friends. she knew she could trust them when she needed to, knew they would protect and die for her, just as she would for them. And that knowledge of security and support made everything just seem a little bit better.
She casually let her tail fall between her and Robinwing, the tip just barely grazing her shoulder. She narrowed her eyes sympathetically when Goldenfeather admitted the heat was getting to her. As a short furred cat, she'd never considered the nasty side effects of have thick luxurious fur, of course, she had admired how strong it made others seem.
"I don't know if Reedheart will be picked though... He seems kind of...annoyed. Yea, that's the word for it." Goldenfeather continued, but Aspenfur stiffened. She didn't like the idea of discussing Reedheart when he wasn't here. It was because, if anything, he was the nicest tom. But she shook it off, knowing that Goldenfeather was merely making an observation.
Instead, Aspenfur chose to comment on the Gathering, "It's soon. I haven't checked the moon in a bit, but I know we're getting close. I hope I get to go. It's been three moons since I last went, and I'm really excited to see Eaglestar again. She spoke to me last Gathering."
