Behind the Name
She was named Maple for the color of her fur which reminded her mother of the color of trees during leaf-fall.
She earned the name Flight for her skills at scouting and her incredible endurance when running. Privately, Mapleflight thinks it might have been a reference to the way she's always changing subjects and the way points often 'fly over her head'.

Personality
She's an odd one. She is often spaced out, having to be snapped back to conversations or patrols by someone who is actually paying attention. This can cause her to miss vital things and this behavior actually resulted in her becoming a warrior late. She often trails off in conversations or goes on tangents that only make sense to her and she is easily confused by the words of others. She doesn't show much emotion outside of calm cheerfulness, which can honestly make her a bit creepy to interact with. Don't mistake her odd behavior for stupidity, though. Mapleflight picks up on new things incredibly fast.
She's also, unfortunately, a very greedy cat. She takes more then she needs from the freshkill pile and tries to get as much attention as she can from her friends. She likes to hoard pretty things that she finds in the forest, though she sometimes deigns to give these things to her very favorite clanmates. Getting a pretty thing from Mapleleaf is an honor indeed, as it means that she likes you a great deal.
Mapleflight is a big flirt. It's not that she's a disloyal cat or that she enjoys breaking hearts. Quite the opposite! It's just that she loves life and she loves other cats, and she wants to share that love with everyone. She enjoys brief, turbulent relationships full of passion and heartfelt confessions, but just as soon as she enters them Mapleflight is off to the next one. She has little interest in settling down, unless that partner wanted to join her in her mission of spreading the love like the strange little hippy cat she is. It's not just romantic love that she likes to spread, either. Mapleflight loves to make friends and she's always up for forming a cuddle pile in the camp.
Mapleflight is a hard cat to provoke. Insults roll off of her like the water she loves so much, and she's likely to return them with the love she gives everyone. She just doesn't seem to get angry, and she's more likely to give other cats the I'm Disappointed In You look. That doesn't mean she's a pacifist. If she wanted that road, she would have gone to the medicine cat den. Mapleflight fights for her clan like any proper warrior, and she does so with gusto. She just greets the enemies of yesterday as the friends of today, with plenty of purrs and happy headbutts. This can make her a bit of a nuisance at gatherings.
Mapleflight believes in second chances. She also believes in going against the code if she has to. Sometimes, the leaders don't know what's right. Mapleflight knows when to keep her head down and pretend to agree, and then to go do her own thing. She's not the most loyal cat in the world, and she'll betray her leader in a second if it means saving the forest as a whole. She thinks of the Forest before the Clan, and she knows that if that ever gets out it'll quickly make her an unpopular cat. She also knows it breaks the code. She feels guilty about it, some days. Most of the time, she tries to tell herself that one day they'll all be in the same Starclan. She's just making sure there won't be any bad blood when they end up there.

Appearance
Mapleflight is on the small side for a riverclan cat, though only a fool would mistake her small size for vulnerability. She is compact rather then weak, with broad shoulders and powerful legs. She's made to run, and run far. She won't be beating any cat in a constant of speed, but Mapleflight can run for a long, long time. She doesn't hit hard and she doesn't hit fast, but one look at her little brick of a body will tell any cat that she'll get up and keep on hitting. She's hard to roll and pin in a fight thanks to her compact body, and she takes hits well. She is a tiny tank.
She's a bit unusual looking for a calico. The stripes on her ginger half are very pronounced, and she really only has one notable black marking on her entire body, falling along her left leg, shoulders and head. She does have a lot of white, though! She has big, yellow eyes. She likes to bat them at handsome toms.

History
Maplekit was an odd one from the start. Her brother, Frostkit, was a gregarious kit that quickly captured the hearts of the clan. Maplekit was different. She was easily confused and frankly disturbed some of her clanmates with the strange things she said. She questioned the code regularly, and she threw regular tantrums over toys and trinkets that her father brought her. She wasn't a bad kit, really. Just a different kit, and poor Emberclaw wasn't really sure what to do with her.
As Maplekit grew, she became frustrated with her inability to properly communicate with other cats. She wanted attention and affection, but it seemed that all of her attempts to make friends were turned down. Frostkit was embarrassed by her and demanded she not play with him, and Cloudstream no longer mentioned her to his friends. She felt isolated and sad, and her time in the nursery was spent miserably.
It was her mentor that realized how to reach the odd kit. Sootfur was often overlooked by the clan and he had not received an apprentice despite the many moons he had served. He was frustrated with receiving Maplepaw instead of the real kit he had desired, Frostpaw. Still, he was determined to help his apprentice. So he talked to her, and he did his best to understand.
With someone to talk to, Maplepaw became to blossom. She stopped being afraid to talk to others because of her strange behavior, and she began to slowly make friends within her clan. Her brothers embarrassment made it hard, however. He insisted she leave his friends alone, and she reluctantly agreed. She didn't want to bother him. She loved him too much to do that. When the gathering came, Sootfur insisted that Maplepaw attend in an effort to improve her confidence.
She went. She, to Sootfur's shock, made friends with some of the apprentices of the other clans. Maplepaw began to take a keen interest in the other clans, something that her mentor encouraged her to keep quiet. She was a cat of Riverclan, Sootfur said. She had to be loyal to her clan.
Reluctantly, Maplepaw did. Still, she started to view the other clans not as enemies, but as friends. She liked friends. But Sootfur was not just her friend, but her Best Friend and mentor, and so she behaved herself for him. The little seed of disloyalty had been planted, however, and it would only grow as Maplepaw grew.
As she aged, Maplepaw didn't change. She was still the odd cat that talked about whether or not rocks had feelings. But by now the clan viewed her with affection, and they welcomed her to warriorhood with pride. Frostfang's actions were more to defend her from herself then to protect his reputation. He's dumb like that. Mapleflight loves him, though.
Oh, and she discovered the joys of toms and she-cats. But she didn't mention that to her brother. He probably would have died or something.
It was through her 'spreading the love' that she ended up pregnant by a tom who was very much not her mate. Her mother and father were less then pleased, and her brother wanted to murder the tom. Mapleflight thinks it's funny, but she's excited to bring more love into the forest.
