Aspenfur returned quickly to camp, sending Minnowpaw out to tend the elders. She had done so well today, and learned so much, that Aspenfur felt she would be a warrior in no time. She hoped that Minnowpaw would like her warrior name. With the name came a sense of pride that was hard to distinguish. A name was personal, something no other cat would ever have. A name tied the cat to the sense of individuality from the clan. It was an embodiment of a cat. And Aspenfur really couldn't wait to know what Minnowpaw's would be.
She trotted towards the freshkill, carefully keeping an eye for Morningclaw. She didn't know if her mother was in the camp but she wasn't really risking another fight. The last one had been big enough and things were tense between the two warrior queens. Aspenfur snagged a mouse, and settled in the warmth of the grass at the center of the camp.
A shiver ran down her back, as the cool air drifted across her back. Leaf-bare made her nervous. The river would freeze, and cut off the largest source of food, and Riverclan would hurt for a season. Their warriors knew how to hunt on land, but it wasn't their strongest skill. Any cat would worry. She tucked into her mouse, the taste exploding on her tongue. She hummed with contentment.

"You look worried." Stonestar murmured as he approached his sister's side. It had been a long time since they had spoken. And his paw-steps were ginger and light as he settled down beside her, with his dark tabby pelt prickling in the chill that seemed to promise rain. He had long since allowed the jealousy towards his siblings to subside and had grown to respect Aspenfur somewhat, though he still never quite clicked with Molefang and tensions between those two where still clear.
With a small motion, Stonestar gently placed a freshly caught squirrel between the both of them, it's bushy tail splayed out behind it's body. "Would you like to share some?" He asked formally while nosing the lump of prey towards the grey she-cat. Formalities where usually the closest thing the tom had to friendliness. He didn't quite know how to act around others when he wasn't barking orders or planning battle tactics. Stonestar didn't really care either though, he had no interest in a companion, only followers. With a quick nod, he lowered his head down and took a hefty bite from the creature's flank without waiting for a reply. After all, he was sure she'd want to share. He was her brother and leader, only a mouse-brain would turn him down. Right?

Aspenfur flicked her tail in greeting when Stonestar settled next to her, pleased to have him with her. She was often unsure how to approach her older brother. He had been her parents first litter and hadn't grown up with her and Molefang. There was a rift between them that wasn't easily crossed, especially because he was a leader. The youngest of the clans, of course, but a leader nonetheless and it made him seem... well, official. She often felt that he never had time for her.
The mouse had not filled her as well as she hoped, and the offer of the squirrel floated across her tongue into her crowing belly. She couldn't resist. Aspenfur dipped her head and took a bite, the fresh meat dancing through her mouth. She barely contained a purr, but didn't want to disturb Stonestar as he tucked in next to her. The silence was somewhat awkward but mostly comfortable, since Morningclaw had made sure, just recently, that her kits got along. That had been a long afternoon of embarrassment and ineptitude for everyone involve, but things had come out for the better. At least for Aspenfur and Stonestar.
Finally, when she was licking the last of the squirrel from her teeth, Aspenfur replied to Stonestar's earlier query. "Just wondering about leaf-bare." She sighed, rolling a little on to her back. "And Minnowpaw."

Leaf-bare had always been a cause for worry. It promised empty bellies, terrible sickness and frost-bitten toes. Something that Stonestar could do quite well without. So it came as no surprise to him when when his sister voiced her concerns of Leaf-bare's cold and hungry clutches that seemed to have begun to creep into the Leaf-fall's mornings, but.. Minnowpaw? "What of Minnowpaw?" The dark tabby grumbled curiously before taking another bite of his prey, it's stingy tissue easily becoming wedged between his stained teeth. He shifted himself to face Aspenfur with renewed interest glowing throughout his expression, there had been very little action in the clans these days besides the slow build-up for the season of cold, and Stonestar would jump at the chance for any source of action, even if it be something as miniscule as giving a lecture that he probably should be giving himself, to an apprentice.
To be honest though, Stonestar had no interest in the well-being of his siblings. At least he didn't think he did. And he didn't care if Minnowpaw was giving Aspenfur a hard time. Though his sister was the most tolerable of his siblings, Stonestar was a tyrant and wanted little to do with family. Not if he was expected to show them affection, something he found to be distracting and weak. StarClan, he was a barely more than an apprentice pretending to be leader with his boyish and battle-hungry view of things.

She wondered if she'd eaten too fast and hadn't left enough for Stonestar. The problem with having a sibling as a leader was that she sometimes forgot that she ought to respect him and not treat him to like she did Molefang. Admittedly, Aspenfur's relationship with Molefang was different than her's with Stonestar. She felt more muddled and anxious with Stonestar but sometimes she forgot, like now, and look what happened, she'd accidentally eaten more than her share. Oh brother.
"You know how I am with fighting." Aspenfur admitted, hoping Stonestar didn't regret giving Minnowpaw to her. "I'm worried my own incapabilities will set her back."
Aspenfur never liked to say she couldn't do something. She never liked to confess her problems and she certainly wasn't comfortable telling them to her leader, who could take away Minnowpaw in an instant. But she also had Morningclaw's voice in her head, echoing around and around, saying he's your brother, he's your brother. She figured she could always blame her mother if Minnowpaw was reassigned a new mentor.
"I want someone else to train her to fight." Aspenfur sighed. "I can't do it well enough and it makes me worry for her safety."

"That may be true." Stonestar agreed nonchalantly, of course he would pounce on any opportunity to degrade a cat, even if it be his own clan-mate, or family. He liked it when other cats admitted to lacking in a certain skill, it made him feel stronger, and better about himself.
The dark tabby listened quietly, his greyed ears perked with interest, "Are you implying that you no longer wish to train Minnowpaw?" He queried, an edge creeping deep into his voice, "I assigned him to you for a reason." Even if that reason might have been in the hope that she would fail. He hoped that Aspenfur would give up her apprentice, he wanted to prove something. Something that he shouldn't have wanted to prove.
With a shrug, Stonestar leaned in to push what remained of the squirrel's corpse to the side. He hadn't minded, or noticed, that Aspenfur had eaten more than he, it was an unnecessary worry. With a brittle gaze, the RiverClan leader rocked his eyes back up to meet with Aspenfur's, his expression seeming calm and collected. He wasn't angry, but somewhat satisfied. Stonestar waited patiently for the warrior's reply, his tail slowly coiling around his body in anticipation for her response.
