ooc: I've gotten a little clarification as to posting in threads, so I'll just post after littlestar jumps off the rock to talk to mothkit, if that's ok x3
IC: The burly feline leaped from High Rock, her landing not graceful in the slightest as she plopped on her hind quarters, trying quickly to regain her stance. "Hrmph", she would grunt, with a wobbly trot she padded back toward the thick bushels of ferns that served as entrance to her den. Turning, the medicine cat would watch as Littlestar conversed with Mothkit, her most frequent patient. The medicine cat admired the tenacity from the blind kit, as she didn't let her disability hinder her desire and passion to serve her clan. What might starclan have in order for this kit? Is she to be a shadow in the clan? No, Starclan wouldn't be that cruel, not to an innocent kit. That one was going to be special, she just knew it, just like Littlestar. Yellowtail would smile, recalling past memories in her warrior days, with then Littleclaw.
"How've much he's grown", she would think to herself, emerald eyes slightly gleaming at the dark haired tom, as he continued to talk to Mothkit. He too was special, when no cat else thought he'd be. He was too small, they said, not strong enough they said. Though he showed them, he showed them all, as he rose through the ranks, with enough scars to prove it. What she admired most more than anything was he straightforwardness, his blunt nature much like her own. Perhaps that is why he has been the only one that can put up with her. Her sly remarks glide off him, just like water on a riverclanner's hide. He was more than just their leader, her leader, he was one she could truly call a friend. Something that she hasn't really had the chance to explore in quiet some time.
Friendship, what seems like simple pastime, a passing phase in life to others, remains a deep mystery to her. It's amazing really, to be surrounded by members of the clan constantly, why does life feel so empty. Surely she knew this, as the life of the medicine cat is a life of solidarity, to serve and serve only. But was it so wrong to want more? Yellowtail could only wonder, shaking her head of the thought. "No, that kind of life, isn't meant for me, can it?", she would mew softly to her self, her ears flattening as she trudged through the ferns, her tail drooping behind her.
OOC:Taking this from previous thread, as pre-moonstone meeting x3

Littlestar took a deep, shaky breath. The weighty conversation with Mothkit had shaken him, he was not too proud to admit it. The she-kit was brave and proud and would no matter what be an asset to the clan. But he didn't like having to tell her the truth, didn't want to hurt her. Starclan, he didn't want to hurt anyone in his clan. But least of all, an innocent kit who's fate was out of anyone's hands. Sometimes, he wondered how Starclan could do something.
He was a little too proud to admit that he needed comfort. He just felt... unstable. Shaky and unbalanced and confused that Starclan could be so cruel to that little kit. She didn't deserve her handicap. Littlestar wasn't sure where to go, or what to do. He wanted to join a patrol, but didn't think the clan needed to see their leader fail. As a young leader, he needed to present himself as strong.
Without a conscious effort, his legs, short as they were, stepped down the tunnel towards the medicine cat den. He wasn't fully aware of his approach until he scented the spicy sour smells of herbs and heard Yellowtail's mumbling echoing around the den. He perked up. Spending time with the medicine cat was one of his favorite things to do. She was his oldest, closest friend.
His pace picked up, turning until a brisk trot, until he entered the wider area of the den. "Hello." He called, pulling himself back to a leader, but feeling a wave of platonic pleasure at seeing her brown and white pelt.

The brown dappled feline mindlessly went through her herb store, her head buried between a crack in rock that housed her den. "Little-UNF!", she yelled as the tom startled her, causing her head to knock against the small opening. Flustered, the feline would fall backwards, grasping her head in her paws as she writhed in pain. "You moused-brained, fox-hearted!...,", and the list of obscenities would go on and on.
"I swear you lot are trying to kill me, what do you want?", she would snap, peeking in-between her paws to stare up at the scant leader. Though her irritable expression would change as she laid eyes on him, for something seemed different about the tom. Since when did he stop in for a simple hello? It had been quiet some time since the old pair had a chat about anything non-starclan related. The thought of them having a normal conversation seemed to peak her interests. "Littlestar?, What's on your mind", she mewed cordially.

After watching Yellowtail hit her head, a surge of concern pulsed through Littlestar. His clan couldn't run if the medicine cat was feeling sick. She needed to be ready to go to Mothermouse, tonight. But beyond that, his concern was for her. Yellowtail was his oldest closest friend. They'd been through a lot together and he genuinely cared for her. He didn't need her injured for his own peace of mind. He knew he would spend the rest of the moon worrying about her, if she was. And that was not the correct way to run a clan.
But as soon as the ferocious she-cat began to curse at him, he relaxed, letting relief and the situation run away with him. His purr was loud and rumbling, nearly shaking his whole body, as his whiskers twitched. He was nearly chuffing with amusement.
Which was cut somewhat short when Yellowtail snapped, "I swear you lot are trying to kill me, what do you want?"
He bristled, minutely. He and Yellowtail were very close in rank and he respected her greatly. But no cat would ever speak to him like that. He demanded respect. Just because he was short didn't mean he wasn't as powerful or as prominent as any other leader from any other clan. And he would not be treated as one.
But he watched as she finally met his gaze and seemed to see how shaken he actually was. Immediately her tone changed.
"I don't understand how Starclan could blind a kit so young." Littlestar sighed, padded closer to the older she-cat, nonchalantly seeking comfort. "Mothkit is so vibrant, she could be such an asset. But I fear I'll have to confine her to the elders den."

"Mothkit?...Oh yes that one", she would grunt, giving the crown of her head a final rub, thanking Starclan that she didn't seriously hurt herself. "You'd be surprise the power Starclan has over the living", she would mew curtly, adjusting herself upright as she shook moss from her pelt that she so carelessly scattered in her fidgeting. "Just think about it. They were once among the living. They walked this very forest, fought the same battles, had the same thoughts, just as you and me. Do they change simply because they have succumbed to death? Do they not wonder about things to come, such as every cat? I think not", she said firmly, padding over to him as she rested her tail over his shoulder in comfort. "They're still the same cats Littlestar...", she would mew softly as she stared up into the tiny opening among the brambles of her den, the slight twinkle of Silverpelt beginning to grace the sky. "There are some things even the great cats before us can't control", she would state bluntly. The feline showed no malcontent toward her warrior ancestors, and tried her best to portray that to her troubled leader. She did not want for him to doubt their guidance, but to simply realize things just have their way of working out. "If you'd like, I will speak of this at the Moonstone. Starclan may have the answers that you seek".

Littlestar listened very closely to Yellowtail. She spoke very clearly and somewhat dryly about Starclan, like she knew them personally, like she friends with them. And actually, that made sense. Yellowtail visited the Moonstone every moon. She shared tongues with the warriors of the past often. Of course, she would know them better than him. Better than anyone else in the clan. It was both a comfort to have that power allied to him and frightening to know that she was closer to the stars than any other. Even him.
But what she said was also very intelligent. Of course, they were just warriors. But it made him uneasy as well. Who else could control the forest? Who else made the decisions like when the rain would come or which kit would survive the leaf-bare, if not the cats who knew the ways of a warrior? They ascended to the stars to guide and protect the clans. How could they not affect the entire forest?
A shiver echoed down his spine but Yellowtail's tail touched his shoulder as she offered, "If you'd like, I will speak of this at the Moonstone. Starclan may have the answers that you seek."
He pressed his muzzle against hers, feeling better for a moment. "Yes, Yellowtail. I would appreciate that very much. I'm just... heartbroken, I guess. That she won't be able to live her dreams, like every other cat. We are in a time of peace." Suddenly Littlestar was frustrated. He would never question Starclan, but sometimes, they made it very hard for him to like them. "At least they could have sent us a sign earlier,so we could have known. So I could have prepared."

Yellowtail blinked in surprise as she felt the warmth of Littlestar's muzzle against her own, her paws shifting ever so slightly. Under normal circumstances she would have cuffed anyone else over their ear, quite possibly more. "I...Don't give up hope just yet", clearing her throat as she regained composure. "She's still a kit, let her adjust to the world in her own way. She's seems to be more aware of this than you give her credit for.", giving him a sly grin, standing up to peek out of the ferns that enclosed her den. "She's going to be fine, as long as her clan stands by her, she can do anything", the medicine cat would say proudly. She had taken a liking to the energetic kit, watching her explore the world so confidently, no trace of fear in those clouded eyes. Whether it was Starclan's plan or not, she would do whatever she could to help aid Mothkit in her endeavors, not matter how difficult they may be. She was too bright a star to let rot away in the elders den, not if she could help it.
"What I'm more worried about is you", she would pause, "I mean...well...greencough, you know. How are you feeling?", she said in a slight stutter. What was wrong with her? She was more timid than a mouse! Perhaps Littlestar was right, she was getting old. She sighed and padded back to him, pressing her paw against his forehead. "You lost a life", she would say somewhat sadly, feeling for the first time a sense of failure. She was supposed to heal, to prevent this, to protect him. Absentmindedly she would utter out her thoughts, "I'm not worthy of this honor, I failed you".

Littlestar's tail snapped irritably as he listened to Yellowtail berate herself. He knew that she was a perfectly acceptable medicine cat. Her mentor had been fantastic and she was shaping up to be more clever than Mintfur. It wasn't her fault that green cough had taken his life. Sometimes, sickness was too much. Sometimes, it was his own failure. He hadn't rested enough when he'd first gotten sick. He knew how hard Yellowtail had worked to heal him. She'd nearly worried herself sick trying to make him better.
He was grateful she seemed to care so much about him as well. But he was concerned that this would cause her to loose confidence in herself. If she did, it would affect the clan greatly. He couldn't have her work suffer because of her emotions. It was that he didn't trust her to work well, only that if she lost her spirit, she would be even more susceptible to failure, which would only break her further. He didn't want that to happen.
He licked the top of her head, like he was naming a new warrior. "Yellowtail. It's fine. Green cough claims at least one of us a year. We should be grateful that it was me, who can continue on, rather than a cat who cannot." He paused, hoping he was saying the right thing. "I know how much effort you put into curing me. No leader could ask for a better medicine cat."
