Still a bit of a WIP. I need to make it neater and prettier.
In Character Punishments
Our fabulous team of admins and moderators may deliver punishments for OOC disobedience, but Auburnstar’s policies are what governs them ICly. Because this thread has been posted, any arguments you may have OOCly about not knowing you would receive a certain punishment is invalid. Any transgression you commit was done knowing full well that you would be given some sort of punishment.
As members of ShadowClan, Auburnstar holds you to high standards and you are to act accordingly. However, this doesn’t mean I am discouraging you from breaking rules. Disobedient and defiant characters provide amusement for both you and the cats that have to deal with them. Feel free to break all or none of the rules Auburnstar has. As long as you do not create unnecessary drama in the rp, you may do as you please and have fun getting on your leader’s nerves.
The Warrior Code
Defend your clan, even with your life. You may have friendships with cats from other clans, but your loyalty must remain to your clan.
Do not hunt or trespass on another clan's territory.
Elders and kits must be fed before apprentices and warriors.
Prey is killed only to be eaten. Give thanks to StarClan for its life.
A kit must be at least six moons old to become an apprentice.
Newly appointed warriors will keep a silent vigil for one night after receiving their warrior name.
A cat cannot be made deputy without having mentored at least one apprentice.
The deputy will become clan leader when the leader dies or retires.
After the death or retirement of the deputy, the new deputy must be chosen before moonhigh.
A Gathering of all four clans is held at the full moon during a truce that lasts for the night. There shall be no fighting among clans at this time.
Boundaries must be checked and marked daily. Challenge all trespassing cats.
No warrior can neglect a kit in pain or danger, even if the kit is from a different clan.
The word of the clan leader is the warrior code.
An honorable warrior does not need to kill other cats to win his or her battles, unless they are outside the warrior code or it is necessary for self-defense.
A warrior rejects the soft life of a kittypet.
Punishments
One
Breaking the Warrior Code.
As you were expected to have committed the warrior code to memory as an apprentice, you will be sentenced to performing apprentice duties indefinitely as well as receiving the specific punishment for the portion of the code you broke.
If you are an apprentice yourself, your warrior ceremony will be delayed by at least a moon and you will not participate in training until your mentor feels you have learned your lesson.
Kits will receive a delayed apprenticeship ceremony and be confined to the nursery.
Two
Showing loyalty to a cat outside of your clan.
The punishment for breaking this rule depends on the severity of your actions.
If you are friends with a cat that is not loyal to ShadowClan, you will be expected to never see them outside of gatherings. You will be issued a warning and kept off of border patrols until Blackstep and Auburnstar are certain they can trust you.
Falling in love is far different from being friendly with enemy cats and will be treated as such. You will be either exiled, forbidden from ever seeing your significant other again, or the other cat must join ShadowClan. If you choose to remain in ShadowClan but the cat you love will not join you, you will face many hardships. Blackstep and Auburnstar will no longer trust you, you will be kept off of border patrols that go near your lover’s home, no longer invited to join your clan at gatherings, and never receive an apprentice. If kits enter the equation at any point in time, you will only have two options: leave ShadowClan and never return, or have your mate and kits join your clan.
Three
Leaving ShadowClan’s territory without being instructed to by Auburnstar herself.
Auburnstar will order another cat to keep watch over you and you will not be allowed to leave camp unless accompanied by them. You will be treated as an apprentice until Blackstep or Auburnstar says otherwise and will sleep in their den.
If you are an apprentice, you will not be allowed to participate in training until Auburnstar believes you can be trusted again. During this time, all maintenance jobs, chores, and other unpleasant tasks will be your responsibility alone.
Four
Eating before the elders or kittens.
You will not be allowed to eat again until a full twenty four hours has passed ICly. In the time between then and your next meal, you will spend your time hunting enough prey to fill the bellies of all your clanmates.
Five
Killing prey for any reason other than consumption.
Killing prey animals without reason or for any reason other than to eat will earn you a harsh scolding and you will be forced to forgo meals until twenty four hours has passed ICly.
Six
Failing to complete your silent vigil.
Unless you have noticed something that is a threat to your clan, you have no reason to speak at all during the night after you receive your warrior name. Failing to complete your vigil will result in you performing only apprentice chores for a half-moon and being referred to by your apprentice name.
Seven
Breaking the truce at a gathering.
Being an instigator will earn you a stern scolding in front of all four clans as well as the doubling of the amount of duties you were expected to perform the next day. If you draw the blood of another, the situation will be handled based on its severity and several other punishments may be added.
Eight
Neglecting a kitten or allowing/being involved in actions that could put said kitten in danger.
You will care for all of the clan’s queens and kits for two sunrises and obey any order they give you. Having kittens of your own until you have proven yourself will be strictly forbidden. If the kitten was put in danger and lost its life, you will be exiled from the clan.
Nine
Disobeying or disrespecting cats with a rank higher than your own.
Owlberry, as the clan's medicine cat, has the authority to give orders to even Auburnstar herself. He works hard to protect the clan and interpret omens and words from StarClan. Anyone found disrespecting or disobeying Owlberry will be immediately demoted for a halfmoon, given a delayed ceremony or none at all, or apprentice chores until Owlberry decides you have had enough. An alternative to those punishments could also be serving as Owlberry's helper indefinitely and not being allowed to participate in your normal duties.
Auburnstar is to be respected and obeyed above all. The warrior code states that the word of the clan leader is the code. Disrespecting her will earn you apprentice duties for several sunrises or a delayed ceremony. Disobey her when she has given an important order and you will be demoted for a halfmoon and possibly confined to camp. First, minor offences will be given a warning, though you will never again receive one.
The punishments for disrespecting or disobeying Blackstep are identical to those stated above apart from the fact that you will not be demoted in retribution for any of your actions.
Disrespecting or disobeying a cat with a rank higher than your own usually results in you having to hunt for them and do their bidding until that moonhigh.
Ten
Killing another cat.
Any ShadowClan warrior that takes another’s life unnecessarily will be immediately exiled. If you must do so in self defense, you will simply be treated as a prisoner until Auburnstar and Blackstep are certain you did not kill your opponent willing.
Eleven
Expressing an interest in or desire for the life of a kittypet.
Breaking this rule will earn you either immediate dismissal from the clan or some other form of punishment.
Twelve
Mistreating another member of your clan or vulnerable cat.
Mistreating another cat is punishable by exile, though it will be dealt with uniquely each time. The way you mistreated them as well as several other factors will be considered. Vulnerable cats from other clans or outside of the clan, such as kits or elders, are also to be treated well. They are to be cared for rather than attacked until they can be gently directed off of the territory. Mistreatment of those cats will also result in exile if Auburnstar feels that is the necessary punishment.
If you have any questions, suggestions, or see any typos (that pesky Typo Demon!), please comment or send me a pm.
Auburnstar's punishments may seem a little harsh, but the she-cat runs a tight ship and expects ShadowClanners to behave. She has been troubled lately and because of that has become slightly stricter.
